These 3 bedroom penthouses are characterised by  spacious modern rooms with open plan design to compliment the landscape. H2 offers exclusive comfort in summer utilising the patio, pool, spa and open plan living with fluid circulation for effective ventilation.

Large expanses of doubled glazed glass denotes that no expense has been spared in creating amazing panoramic views.

Features:

1. DoubleGlaze

Energy efficient double glazing with insulation properties keeps  the occupants warm in winter and cool in summer.

2. OrganicFlavor
Tasmanian hardwood veneer features in the other half of the facade, while the use of seasoned stonewood flooring throughout maintains an organic appeal.

3. ConcreteCore
Reinforced concrete cylinder core encompassing a state of the art rotating lift allowing residents to transition smoothly from private space to public space.

4. Bathroom
Beautifully equipped bathrooms with spa bath, china basins and  redwood gloss fittings.

5. Kitchen
Walnut timber with high gloss mirror finish dominates the space with the sleek and uniquely styled curved marble bench top  complementing its overall decorum.

WK 10 Research and Case Study of chosen Architect + 250 words

Upon determining my re-invention of the holman house and following the discussion with Matt (Tutor), I have decided to use 2 architectural design inspirations from different firms that will amalgamate my overall design. 

1. The first integration is the Ironbank building by RTA group  based in NZ utilising an unstructured and unprecedented approach to arranging building blocks on top of another (see below).

 2. I can see from the following video that the firm loves to imitate or connect with its surrounding environment, i.e. bondi beach. The use of sleek curves, clean lines and possibly glazed and slightly grainy facade somehow transcend to dominate the landscape. This monochromatic idealisation may also be evident in my overall design......but not yet decided on.

Video of the Clubhouse proposal for North Bondi surf club headquarters. The firm represents the building in this video in some what of a surreal format, introducing much light into the spectrum while walk throughs of 180deg perspective views in frozen time captures the essence of the building against the landscape and people.

Link below is video showing the development of ideas through model making. Quite an interesting outlook on the processes made by the firm and the number of different models created to find a solution.

Ideas and Direction (150 words)

A number of ideas comes to mind when re-inventing this dwelling. Most prominent of this would manifest from its signature cantilever forms and re-inventing it for use in another context such as site.

1. Am thinking site context and placing the dwelling in urban area/city, and utilising its elastic cantilever form and multiplying atop of one-another to create a distinctive apartment block with 180deg views.
2. Modernist meets post-modernist ideals, adding the influence of another architect with futuristic designs.
3. Replacing the whole structure except for its columns and placing another contrasting design on top of it.

 At the moment, the direction would require further research on other dwellings designed by another architect for inspiration and modify the current model or re-create another from scratch.

Holman House

The Holman house is located on the cliff edge nearing Sydney Harbour. It offers spectacular panoramic views of the ocean and beyond. Designed by Dubach Block Architects, its premise offers great comfort in summer utilising the patio, pool, open plan with fluid circulation for effective ventilation. Large windows not only lends to amazing views but also natural light combined with a unique cantilevered forms for aesthetic appeal.

"Sited on the edge of a 70-metre high cliff, the plan of Holman House refers to Picasso's painting The Bather. It contains a complex series of fluid living spaces set within a meandering perimeter that arcs, folds and stretches in response to sun, landscape and views. Living and dining areas cantilever out over the ocean, allowing dramatic views up and down the coast. The lower floor forms a base that is built from rough stone walls like an extension of the cliff below. These walls continue along the cliff edge to form a series of eccentric terraced gardens and a vase-shaped rock pool." - Durbach, Block, Jaggers
